"Out of the Woods"

A Rabbi was wandering around deep in the woods one day. As it turned out, he had been wandering for a long, long time - years, in fact. Suddenly the Rabbi came into a grassy clearing that was full of light. In the middle of the clearing was a large rock. To rest his brow, the Rabbi made his way to the rock and sat down in the sunshine to try and get his bearings.

As he sat resting, he was startled to see the bushes parting at the far side of the clearing. Out of the opening appeared a small band of weary wanderers. Upon seeing the Rabbi they began to rejoice and shout, "We're saved, we're saved!" They eagerly gathered themselves at the Rabbi's feet. They too had been lost for a long, long time and were anxious to hear wise words from the Rabbi for ready guidance to their way out of the vast woods.

The Rabbi stroked his beard for a while until he finally spoke. "Alas, I too, am lost in these woods and have been wandering myself for many years. I am lost and I cannot show you the way. I do not know the way out of the woods but because of my years of wandering, I know a thousand ways that lead deeper into the woods. Perhaps I can help you avoid those paths together.
