The Energy Management Model (EMM)
 
A new way of understanding leadership problems
 
Any model of leadership must incorporate the latest understanding of human behavior and the mind-body connection. Most leaders are operating out of a 19th century social science model. This is inadequate and leaves those who dare to lead unnecessarily stressed and marginally effective. The EMM is a holistic model which understands the presence, the dynamics and the influence of the "limbic brain." Unlike other models, the EMM addresses the emotional (non-rational) dynamics that define the context of every leadership challenge. These dynamics are at work in anxious organizations and create challenges which require more than what we have come to know as traditional leadership skills. When a leader is unaware of non-rational elements operating in individuals and groups, s/he is flying blind. Using this more mature and comprehensive perspective and set of skills, leaders can work on the personal maturity and self-regulation necessary to thrive in today’s leadership environment.
 
This new perspective on human behavior and leadership cannot so much be taught as it must be caught. Rather than offering a new and trendy technique, we offer a collaborative relationship aimed at using this model to address the needs of each individual situation. We work in tandem with each leader to connect with and to trust their own inner voice and to offer it to the world. This process requires a high degree of personal maturity, self reflection, and open-mindedness. This means we are interested in working with those who are motivated to personal transformation and increased effectiveness. We do not work with those looking for a quick fix or a new trend or technique.
